Working Hard and Hardly Working; a Question for my Readers!

Working Hard and Hardly Working; a Question for my Readers! published on 8 Comments on Working Hard and Hardly Working; a Question for my Readers!
Hey everyone! Just dropping an update here so you all know what’s up. First off, things are a-changing over here at Awkward Love. I’m pushing my style and (hopefully) skill so that the next comics can be even better and I’m training a bit so that I can make one big change requested by a fair few readers. That and Fallout 4 are a few of the things that have kept me off my usual weekly schedule. Once I hone in a bit and get things where they need to be I’ll be back into my routine and making strips for you all as quickly as I can.

NOW! That being said I’d like to ask you all something:

Do you like the black and white approach I’ve been using? Would you like to see the strip in color if that means a slightly slower release schedule?

I’m leaving it up to you guys and as always, THANKS FOR READING!!!

I personally like the black and white, but you aren’t necessarily limited to one or the other. Bill Watterson alternated for weekly and Sunday press, but saved color for big epic blowouts or deeper introspection. Check out Berkeley Breathed’s very minor use of color these days.

Yeah I was thinking that too. Watterson is a huge influence on me and I’ve always sort of seen his work as the bar to reach for. I don’t produce enough to do anything like a colored Sunday but perhaps a color strip from time to time is a good middle ground. Seems a lot of people like the black and white a lot which is great because I’m color blind, lol.

Your characters have plenty of life, depth, and motion conveyed well just through the monochrome, dude. Just speaking for myself, if adding color strips slows down the process? I don’t need color! More comics! 🙂 No, for real, no pressure. I look forward to each new one – love the strip! Keep up the good work!

I haven’t felt like I was necessarily missing anything in monochrome, but is it a little extra challenge that you’d *like* to embrace? I support anything that makes it more fun to draw. It is fantastic to watch artists’ styles evolve (whether or not that includes going to color). Thanks for a great strip!

I love the black and white style you use, I think you should stick with it. Though maybe doing a once a week color strip would be a cool idea.
