I am an artist living in a little apartment with one very beautiful, nerdy wife and three cats who are, I think, completely insane. Add a dog who can't control her excitement to that mix and I'm living one very crowded hectic life!

Awkward Love Takes a Step Back

Awkward Love Takes a Step Back published on 2 Comments on Awkward Love Takes a Step Back
So I have some bad news, everyone, Awkward Love is officially being put on hold. The Patreon never quite did well enough to supplement my freelance responsibilities and I’ve had far too much on my plate between working and teaching to be able to maintain my release schedule and fulfill my obligations to my amazing beautiful patrons. This month at some point before anyone gets charged again I will be shutting down the Awkward Love Patreon and I’ll be turning my gaze to some other projects that may eventually serve to support this project again in some way.

I will still be writing down my strip ideas and occasionally updating the comic and the Facebook page, but I have to accept defeat for the time being.

For all of you who have been here from the start, you mean the world to me. Everyone who’s joined us for this ride, you’re a big part of what has kept me smiling through all this. I love making this comic and I’ve had a blast, so thank you all for having fun with me.

Don’t worry, this isn’t the end, it’s just a step back.

Hey everyone! Sorry for the long wait but I’ve finally managed to slice off a few hours for myself. I’ve got two more in the works and I’ll be trying to keep up with my old release schedule soon. You’re the best! Thanks for sticking around!

Awkward Love’s July Update!

Awkward Love’s July Update! published on 1 Comment on Awkward Love’s July Update!
Just wanted to update all my lovely readers on how things are going and why there’s been a few weeks free of posts.

Firstly, the Patreon, while amazing and appreciated, isn’t quite earning enough yet to match the pace of the rewards I have to make. I’m still pulling in a ton of freelance to keep the lights on. So if you can and want to, head on over there and give me a nudge 😉 (https://www.patreon.com/AwkwardLove)

Secondly, the fine folks at Rutgers seem to think I’m some kinda smart so I’m taking on more sections of my game design course and a few other things I shouldn’t really talk about but hey, I get to be a part of academia now, so that’s cool. What that means for me is tons and tons of research and writing so that’s been absorbing a lot of Awkward Love’s time as well. It’s great challenging work, and it’s helping to pay the bills so I have to give it my all.

Finally, I’m still commuting from Jersey to Long Island every weekday, and until I manage to find a new home on the island I will be dumping hours and hours every week into driving. I’m very close to knowing if we’ve got a place or not, but until then its all driving all the time. The move will also be very expensive, so we’ve been working hard to save up for that.

I appreciate all my readers and Alyssa and I couldn’t be happier to have so many people looking through this little window into our lives. I’ve got some good strips written… I just need to find the time to make them now. Wish me luck, everyone!

Pulse

Up til now, this comic has been somewhat ambiguous about the political leanings and ideologies of its creator.  I, George, have done my best not to taint the casual tone and slice of life comedy of these entries with rhetoric or attempts to persuade my readers to a point of view. One or two Trump jokes have found their way in, but ultimately it’s been good wholesome fun. Today I’d like to take a step away from that pattern to address an event that is weighing on my mind, and those of many others.

Game A Con, one of those big projects I was telling you about!

Hey there, everyone! I can finally tell you all a little about one of my big projects that’s been holding me up lately! Game A Con ( www.gameacon.com) is a new convention in Atlantic City (more locations to be announced) made for the gamer community and aspiring developers. It’s got a great personal vibe to it and I’ve been working on redesigning their look! Alyssa is working as their social media manager too, so it’s an official Awkward Love project, lol. The website is still under construction so stay tuned for a re-design, but I’ve just released images of the new logo and mascot for the show (you may recognizer her 😉

So stay tuned and if you want to meet us, come to the show! I’ll have a booth there and will be talking game development with my peers and friends from the industry. Alyssa will be there rocking her cosplay as usual! Spreading the word is a great way to support us without spending a dime, so tell your friends!

Little Update on Awkward Love and The Patreon

Little Update on Awkward Love and The Patreon published on No Comments on Little Update on Awkward Love and The Patreon

Screen Shot 2016-06-01 at 8.54.27 AMHey there, my lovely readers! Just wanted to drop you all an update on things here and explain a few things.

I know I’ve been publishing less than weekly lately and I’m not too happy about that. I’ve also missed May’s Patreon publishing by a day now (officially) and don’t worry, I’ll have two desktops and two pinups out as soon as possible.

So, as I’ve mentioned in previous posts, there’s a huuuuuge project I’m on that’s been dominating my spare time. It’s a big game, biggest I’ve had the chance to work on in a good long while, and I’ve been doing my very best to make sure I keep up my end of the project (UI/UX and graphic design). There is some big stuff happening with this project soon, and once that’s out of the way I can maybe cool my jets on that enough to get back to a weekly publishing schedule. Another little hiccup here is that the Patreon hasn’t gotten to the point yet where I can rely on it to replace a couple of my major freelance efforts. I know that’s not an excuse, but hey, these strips take time and time is money. FOR ALL MY CURRENT PATRONS, let it be known that you’re ALL amazing and the support you’ve shown me so far is more appreciated than you could possibly know. I’ve been leaving the earnings in escrow for the time being as I’m hoping to use Patreon to fund a few new art tools (laptop and accessories) that I can set aside just for comic work. This poor little laptop of mine does so so much work, lol.

FOR ALL MY CURRENT READERS, patron or not, you’re all awesome. When I started this I never thought I’d have anything I might call and audience, so if you can’t afford to support Awkward Love or even if you just don’t want to, don’t worry, Alyssa and I still got love for you all!

Finally, to my students, I know a couple of you are on my patron list even though I said you shouldn’t be. You are my rocks, you guys. To know that students of mine have decided to help support Awkward Love, well words can’t begin to express my thanks. Hell, you’ve all already paid for my class, and yet here you are still supporting me. It’s humbling and I can’t tell you how good it feels to see your names on my little Patron list. Please keep in touch, I want to know how I can help you when you need it!

Many thanks for the patience and good will!
